ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
Freebo will present a hybrid workshop covering the topics of: “The Courage to be An Artist”, “The Art of Acoustic Accompaniment”, and “Performance”. In a world of judgment and criticism, we are filled with the voices of others telling us how to be. In this workshop, Freebo will help you to find your own voice, figuratively and literally, giving yourself permission to become the artist/musician you’ve always wanted to be. The Art of Acoustic Accompaniment is the art of framing a vocal with the most effective instrumental accompaniment. Playing guitar behind yourself or playing bass, guitar, drums, or keyboard behind someone else involve the same principles; listening, awareness, sensitivity, and an inherent respect for the song and the singer. Whether you're a solo singer/songwriter, in a duo or trio, or a sideman, this workshop will give you tools and a new awareness to make your song or anyone else's sound better by playing the right music behind it, both live and on recordings. The workshop will be interactive with specific examples as well as critiques of the willing! In the “Performance” part of the workshop, Freebo will cover Fear, Preparation, Tools, Timing, Pace, Tricks and ultimately Communications and Communion with the audience. How do you relate to the audience? You become one with them!
